Moti Bhattarai
Moti Bhattarai was born in the far eastern part of Nepal, near the majestic Kanchejunga, the third-highest mountain in the world. He has been with Himalayan Zen since its inception, serving as the senior company advisor and field in-charge. With over four decades of experience in the tourism industry, Moti has built a reputation for his dedication and expertise.
Before joining Himalayan Zen, Moti worked as a trekking guide with several agencies, steadily gaining credibility and recognition for his exceptional skills and passion. His journey in the tourism industry began in 1992 as a porter, and over the years, he has become a highly respected leader in wilderness trekking and expeditions, not just in Nepal, but also in India and Tibet. Moti’s deep understanding of the industry and his unique ability to keep both clients and porters happy have made him an invaluable part of the team.
Moti holds various certifications, including leadership and trekking guide qualifications from the Government of Nepal. Beyond his professional achievements, Moti is also committed to making a positive impact in his community. He shares a strong belief in the power of education and, alongside his close friend Miss Lesley Gosling from the UK, founded "Big Hills Q Learning Community School" in his home village in Taplejung. This school aims to provide educational opportunities to local children, something Moti is deeply passionate about.
A highly experienced spiritual guide, Moti has completed the Kailash Mansarovar trek over 70 times, helping countless individuals on their spiritual journeys. His faith in the sacredness of Kailash Mansarovar is unwavering, and he is dedicated to helping others achieve spiritual liberation through the sacred pilgrimage. Moti often says, "I will not leave this body until I complete 108 trips to Kailash Mansarovar."
