Detailed Climbing Itinerary: Mera Peak Expedition ( Option A )

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest or explore the bustling streets of Thamel. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner with a briefing about the expedition.

  • Day 02: Trip Preparation

Today is dedicated to preparing for the climb. You will meet your guides, review the climbing gear, and attend a briefing on safety protocols and itinerary details. The day also offers time to explore Kathmandu’s cultural landmarks, such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) or Durbar Square.

  • Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,860m/9,383ft), Trek to Chhuthang (3,020m/9,908ft)

Early in the morning, we take a scenic 35-minute flight to Lukla. From Lukla, we embark on a trek through dense forest trails, passing small villages and streams, to reach Chhuthang. The trek provides your first taste of the Himalayan wilderness.

  • Day 04: Trek from Chhuthang to Tuli Kharka (4,100m/13,451ft) via Zatrawala Pass (4,600m/15,091ft)

Today involves a challenging ascent to Zatrawala Pass, offering panoramic views of the Dudh Kosi valley and surrounding peaks. After crossing the pass, we descend to Tuli Kharka, surrounded by alpine landscapes.

  • Day 05: Trek from Tuli Kharka to Kothe (3,600m/11,811ft)

The trail descends through rhododendron and pine forests into the Hinku valley. Along the way, you will witness majestic peaks such as Mera Peak and Kusum Kanguru.

  • Day 06: Trek from Kothe to Thangnak (4,350m/14,272ft)

We follow the Hinku River upstream, passing through lush valleys and grazing fields. Thangnak is a beautiful settlement surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

  • Day 07: Acclimatization Day in Thangnak

To prepare for higher altitudes, we spend a day in Thangnak. You can explore nearby ridges or rest and acclimatize. Hydration and gradual movement are key to adjusting to the thin air.

  • Day 08: Trek from Thangnak to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft)

Today's trek offers awe-inspiring views of Mera Peak and the surrounding glaciers. The trail becomes steeper as we approach Khare, our base for the climb.

  • Day 09: Acclimatization Day in Khare

Another important day for acclimatization. You’ll have opportunities to practice using climbing gear on nearby slopes and prepare for glacier travel.

  • Day 10: Trek from Khare to Mera Peak High Camp (5,780m/18,963ft)

We climb over glacial terrain to reach Mera Peak High Camp. The route is challenging but rewarding, with incredible views of Everest, Lhotse, and other towering peaks.

  • Day 11: Mera Peak Summit Day (6,476m/21,247ft) and Return to Khare

Summit day begins early, with a pre-dawn climb under the glow of headlamps. After reaching the summit of Mera Peak, enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas before descending to Khare for rest.

Climbing Duration: 8-10 hours

  • Day 12: Trek from Khare to Kothe

We descend back to Kothe, retracing our steps and enjoying easier trails. It’s a day to reflect on the summit achievement and appreciate the serene beauty of the Himalayas.

  • Day 13: Trek from Kothe to Tuli Kharka

The trail ascends again, passing through dense forests and scenic ridges to Tuli Kharka. Expect stunning mountain vistas along the way.

  • Day 14: Trek from Tuli Kharka to Lukla

Crossing Zatrawala Pass again, we descend to Lukla. This marks the end of our trekking adventure, with time to celebrate with the team.

  • Day 15: Morning Flight to Kathmandu

We take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation or sightseeing.

Spend the day exploring Kathmandu’s rich cultural heritage or shopping for souvenirs. This is also a buffer day in case of any delays during the trek or flights.

Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure. Bid farewell to Nepal with unforgettable memories of your Mera Peak expedition.

Mera Peak Expedition Itinerary by Road ( Option B )

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m)

  • Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

  • Briefing about the Mera Peak expedition and preparation of permits.

  • Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu (2,413 m)

  • Distance: ~270 km (8-10 hours drive)

  • Early morning scenic drive through winding mountain roads.

  • Explore Phaplu village in the evening.

  • Overnight stay in Phaplu.

Day 3: Drive from Phaplu to Kharikhola (2,040 m)

  • Distance: ~70 km (4-5 hours drive)

  • Journey through terraced fields, forests, and small villages.

  • Overnight stay in Kharikhola.

Day 4: Trek from Kharikhola to Panggom (2,846 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~6 hours

  • Begin trekking through lush forests and small settlements.

  • Overnight stay in Panggom.

Day 5: Trek from Panggom to Ningsow (2,863 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~5-6 hours

  • Ascend through rhododendron forests and cross suspension bridges.

  • Overnight stay in Ningsow.

Day 6: Trek from Ningsow to Chhatra Khola (2,800 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~6-7 hours

  • Follow the trail through bamboo forests, keeping an eye out for wildlife.

  • Overnight stay in Chhatra Khola.

Day 7: Trek from Chhatra Khola to Kothe (3,691 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~6-7 hours

  • Enter the Hinku Valley and enjoy stunning views of Mera Peak.

  • Overnight stay in Kothe.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day at Kothe

  • Explore the surrounding areas and rest to acclimatize.

  • Overnight stay in Kothe.

Day 9: Trek from Kothe to Thaknak (4,358 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~4-5 hours

  • Ascend gradually to avoid altitude sickness.

  • Overnight stay in Thaknak.

Day 10: Trek from Thaknak to Khare (5,045 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~6 hours

  • Pass by glaciers and reach Khare, the base for Mera Peak preparation.

  • Overnight stay in Khare.

Day 11: Acclimatization and Training Day at Khare

  • Practice climbing techniques and use of equipment.

  • Overnight stay in Khare.

Day 12: Trek from Khare to Mera High Camp (5,780 m)

  • Trekking Time: ~5-6 hours

  • Ascend to high camp with stunning views of Everest, Makalu, and other peaks.

  • Overnight stay at High Camp.

Day 13: Summit Mera Peak (6,476 m) and Return to Khare

  • Climbing Time: ~8-10 hours (round trip)

  • Start early in the morning for the summit push.

  • Enjoy panoramic views from the top and descend back to Khare.

  • Overnight stay in Khare.

Day 14: Trek from Khare to Kothe

  • Trekking Time: ~6-7 hours

  • Descend back to the village of Kothe.

  • Overnight stay in Kothe.

Day 15: Trek from Kothe to Chhatra Khola

  • Trekking Time: ~6-7 hours

  • Retrace your steps through the Hinku Valley.

  • Overnight stay in Chhatra Khola.

Day 16: Trek from Chhatra Khola to Kharikhola

  • Trekking Time: ~6-7 hours

  • Overnight stay in Kharikhola.

Day 17: Drive from Kharikhola to Phaplu

  • Distance: ~70 km (4-5 hours drive)

  • Rest and enjoy the village surroundings.

  • Overnight stay in Phaplu.

Day 18: Drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu

  • Distance: ~270 km (8-10 hours drive)

  • Return to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.

  • Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 19: Departure from Kathmandu

  • Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
